Sour dough

A little while ago, after being inspired by a friends blog on making personal goals, I made 4 goals to improve my life or my surroundings. I have been keeping a running tab on how I'm doing in the back of my mind. Here's how it looks so far.

Goal 1: Take Milly for a run at least 3 times a week I think I have actually been doing the best with this goal. There have been some weeks where I have taken Milly out everyday. I'm looking forward to the days to come when we can take evening walks instead of 5:30 in the morning. I'm following this ten week program I found on the net. I'm on week 6 now and I think I may have actually died this morning on my run. Intervals of two minutes jogging/one minute walking is pretty darn rough. But I'm so looking forward to when I can just run run run.

Goal 2: Decorate my bedroom Well, I have made some efforts in this area. I have made a few bids on some pretty yellow chenille bedspreads on ebay. But sadly I've been outbid each time. Since I believe a bedroom starts with the bedspread I can't do much else until I get that.

Goal 3: Blog once a week This has been difficult for me at times because I have a hard time thinking of things people would want to read about. I think eventually I'll get over that and be able to just post whatever I'm experiencing at the time. I just don't want to prattle on about nothing and be boring. But I guess prattling on is part of the fun of blogging.

Goal 4: Cook one real meal a week FAILURE! I have not done this once. I have just gotten so used to eating random things and not a cohesive meal. Like apple sauce and a bean burrito, or a piece of chicken and some popcorn. Unless I find some sort of easy meals for lazy girls cookbook I don't think I'm going to improve on this goal. Although I think I might like to modify this goal. I have decided that I am totally in love with sourdough bread and I must learn to make it for myself so I can eat it all the live long day. So I'm going to put that cooking thing on the back burner and try and make a loaf of sourdough instead.

So I've made progress in some areas and totally failed in one. But overall I'm having a blast with these goals.

Simple Pleasures

I don't have much to share about my week. Or at least not much I feel like sharing. So, here are some of the simple pleasures that have brought me some joy today. After returning home from my oh so wonderful Holy Yoga class and feeling very at peace, I was very excited when I found the latest Real Simple magazine in my mailbox. So I'm settling down for an evening of relaxation and cookies and milk. Perfect right?
Oh and check this out! I read about this amazing idea on one of the blogs I follow. For optimal oreo dunking, poke your fork into the cream and dip so the whole cookie can be soaked in milky goodness. This has totally changed my oreo cookie eating experience forever. I used to be a cream eater and now I'm a full on dunker. Give it a try. It will blow your mind. :-P

These are the cute new sandals I wore today. These sandals fall under that category of clothing defined by its price. "Cute shoes."......."Oh thanks! They were 3 bucks!"

Bits of Happiness from my weekend

After having a fairly crappy week I was so refreshed and encouraged with my first three day weekend of the school year. It had just the right combo of friends, family and fun to cheer me up. Here are some of my favorite parts...
1. Anne of Green Gables - Everytime I watch this movie I find new favorite lines and I am just so entranced with the story and characters. I always end my Anne marathon feeling so joyful and totally in love with Gilbert Blythe. :-)

2. Carter - Best baby to cuddle with. Ever.
3. McCafe Frappe - Yum

4. Smaller Shorts - Bought a pair of shorts one size smaller. And they didn't cut off my circulation or cause any horrible disfiguration to my mid section!

5.Thrift shopping- Went to glorious downtown SunCity with my mom and Shawna and found this lovely hamper. It looked so dainty and vintage I just had to give it a loving home. And check out this pretty little pictures

6.Shopping with Katy- Went on a cash spending spree with my favorite fashion consultant Katy and look what I found. So cute! Thanks friend. :-)

7.Crafting with my girls - Had my youth girls over for a craft morning. We made these adorable flower hair pins. So fun!
